My manufacturing startup failed. But I learned a lot about supply chains from the industry operators. Now, I write to make these insights accessible to everyone. Here’s my story 👇1) I grew up in Chennai, India, and earned a degree in engineering. But I wanted more opportunities and a broader perspective. So, I moved to Toronto to pursue an M.Eng. at the University of Toronto - a decision that marked the start of a transformational journey. 🌎2) I began my career in the energy auditing industry, helping buildings operate more efficiently. While rewarding, I craved a deeper understanding of business. Without a clear roadmap, I decided an MBA might provide the direction I needed and joined the Rotman School of Management. 📚3) Business school taught me frameworks and perspectives, but stepping out of my comfort zone - competing in case competitions and starting side projects - shaped my entrepreneurial mindset. 🙌4) Most of my ideas didn’t take off, but one stood out. A friend and I developed a way to manufacture low-volume PCBs faster and cheaper, solving a problem I’d experienced as an engineer. We turned it into a business called Trace Electronics. 🚀5) For five years, I built Trace, pivoting based on customer feedback and running pilots. We made progress but struggled to raise funds and achieve profitability. In 2022, I made the tough decision to shut it down. 💔6) Reflecting on that experience, I realized that my most valuable insights on supply chains came from expert operators solving real problems every day. Yet, I noticed a gap: most professionals didn’t have access to this kind of firsthand knowledge. That realization inspired me to start writing The Conveyor. 🌱7) My goal with The Conveyor is simple: to help professionals building physical products make smarter decisions by sharing actionable insights from the front lines. As part of this mission, I write:→ Articles featuring insights from operators (1-2x/week in my Publication) 📜→ Stories on the people shaping supply chains (3x/week on LinkedIn) 🧑🎨→ Newsletter summarizing the day’s top supply chain news (5x/week via Email) 📩8) Today, it’s read by professionals at companies like Amazon, Walmart, and Maersk - and I hope it’s just the beginning. 📰Join me on this journey!
