Set up company's Hardware design team from scratch. Management responsibilities included setting up team for RTL, Verification, Custom Design, Physical Design, Board and Package Design, EDA-IT etc.The team was spread in 4 countries. Company needed a very fast processor (10GHz!!!) to achieve its technical goals. Such high speed cannot be achieved with conventional philosophy, methodology, tools, implementation and management styles. Hence, pretty much everything needed to be unconventional. Moreover, everything needed continuous monitoring and adjustments. And - everything needed to be from scratch. It is a rather difficult task to build such unconventional chips but the team delivered successfully.In addition to management responsibilities - I had ample opportunities for hands on technical work. I was fortunate to get chance to work on and/or invent many exciting design philosophies and implementation concepts - particularly in area of high speed digital design. The team demonstrated a 10GHz processor using conventional CMOS process. A processor design is challenging and fun in general - but a 10GHz processor design -- that is a real fun!!!! I left Wave in 2016 to start yet another exciting journey in electrical science - this time for ultra low power .....

Lead backend design methodologies for high speed and Low Power SOCs in ASIC flow. Recruited and lead multiple custom design teams for implementing customer defined circuit modules, SRAMs and interface IP blocks. Worked hands on and lead teams in analyzing, designing and implementing at system level such as package design and analysis, system level power distribution design, test and debug hardware and systems development, interface characterization, system bus timing margin analysis etc.Worked with customers in product definition, architecture specifications, interface, foundry selection, IP Q/A, IP porting, technology selection etc. Worked with foundries in process selections, ESD implementations, circuit models verification and technology characterization with respect to performance, power, reliability and cost. Some of these interactions resulted in fundamental changes in ESD, metal usage, spice models and tool preferences.

A decade of Ultra SPARC Microprocessor Engineering. Lead multiple groups for multiple UltraSparc projects. Technical lead for backend (equivalent of Chief Scientist - Backend) for family of UltraSPARC microprocessors. This is the microprocessor family that was standardized as the continuing Processor roadmap for Sun Microsystems. Sun was acquired for Oracle in 2010. This UltraSPARC family is the one still in production and development within Oracle. As part of UltraSPARC teams - worked on many breakthrough technologies. Awarded 20+ patents. Lead many teams on High Speed Circuits, clock, power distribution, low power, high speed IO, SERDES, DDR, SRAM, Package design, signal integrity, board design, power supply design, testing, chip bring up etc. through many projects.

The product consists of hardware and software that integrated multimedia capabilities (including vide) in a PC.This product and related patent were licensed to a video equipment manufacturer in India. A Govt. organization selling technology to a private organization is a rare event in India.
