Current BA Archaeology and Anthropology student at the University of Exeter with a wide range of transferable skills. I have experience in the heritage sector having volunteered as a museum steward in the Lanman Museum, Suffolk and Diss Museum, Norfolk. Working in smaller, local museums provides opportunity to connect to those visiting the museum and with local history as a whole as my work at Diss Museum involved visiting the collections store to find relevant local artefacts. I also completed work experience in Krakow, Poland. This involved excavation work, wet sieving, cleaning and labelling of artefacts as well as inputting of data. I gained specific, practical skills such as use of leaf trowels as well as communication in a large and international team. Being abroad for a month also heightened my cultural awareness. I also have experience in the charity and educational sector. I have taught maths and physics 1-on-1 as a tutor as well as interacting with larger groups teaching inclusive sex education as part of my role at sexpression. Through these roles I discovered a passion for teaching, especially in my role as a sex education facilitator, providing young people with information they need to be in control of their lives. I was recently elected as the branch child protection officer for the Exeter branch of sexpression; this role provided me with more training (both receiving training myself and providing it to volunteers) and responsibility. Other skills I have acquired include publicity having been the deputy press and publicity officer for Exeter United Nations Society and president of Exeter Roller Skating Society. Additionally as part of Exeter Model UN, I have chaired debates of over 60 people and given speeches at national and international conferences, allowing me to practise my public speaking. Writing is another passion of mine; I have had my own blog in the past with over 3000 followers and now I write for the University of Exeter ‘Razz’ magazine. In the academic year 2022-23, I was founder and president of the University of Exeter Roller Skating society. This role involved communication with the student guild, processing all the necessary admin and paperwork, advertising and selecting a committee, writing risk assessments and publicising the society. Once the society was set up I planned and led skating sessions, including booking rooms and leading groups through activities. I was also in charge of all social media platforms, society newsletters and publicising the committee elections.
