My decision to embark on an Events Management degree in 2017 was driven by the 4 years of volunteering I had undertaken with the Countess Charity. During this time, I have gained valuable experience and knowledge of every aspect of working for a charity. These alongside my qualification in British Sign Language Level One has allowed me to improve my communication skills immensely. Whilst working with the Countess Charity it was imperative that I consistently demonstrated the charity’s core values and behaviours in every aspect of my work, whether that be working in the office, promoting the charity outside of the office or volunteering at events. At my time in university I completed a dissertation where I looked at third sector organisations, focusing on the knowledge and use of strategic marketing as well as looking at how the use of strategic marketing can affect the relationship these organisations have with their stakeholders. In my second year of university, I had the opportunity to plan a charity event with a group of fellow students. We planned and held a Mystery Movie Night for Chester Women’s Aid, which raised over £1000.
