I served the final two years of a three-year AmeriCorps VISTA project at Gettysburg College. In that time, I worked both with the Center for Public Service at the college and with the local grassroots organization Casa de la Cultura to:• Manage outreach and logistics for the first and second annual ¡Celebra tu Salud! Health fairs for the Hispanic community.• Collaborate with the Penn State Extension NEA for Adams County and CEO of South Central Community Action Programs to offer bilingual nutrition classes to community members.• Coordinate the distribution of 2,200 lbs. of food from The Gleaning Project of South Central PA to over 70 local households.• Collaborate with supervisors at Projects for Campus-Community Engagement to plan and participate in the Welcome Week orientation for an incoming cohort of 25 AmeriCorps VISTA members.• Participate in monthly Guiding Coalition meetings for Casa de la Cultura, providing Spanish-language updates on programming and input on organizational direction.• Research and distribut information to immigrant community members about pertinent resources and federal programs.• Recruit and coordinate student and community volunteers to support project programming.• Secure grant funding and sponsorships from local organizations to create and support new programming.• Assist with interpretation and communication at a local community garden once weekly, when in season.

I coordinated the local food voucher program Healthy Options, a creation of the Adams County Food Policy Council in 2011. For the two years that I served as the coordinator, I• Distributed over $15,000 in food vouchers to program participants four times annually to support food security in Adams County.• Facilitated monthly bilingual meetings with the program’s thirteen Community Leaders to discuss program logistics. • Coordinated application distribution and program registration with Community Leaders and partners.• Maintained records of participant’s voucher usage throughout the year.• Collaborated with supervisor and the board of the Adams County Farmers Market Association to design a new position that combined my role and their Assistant Market Manager role.• Trained incoming coordinator in the procedures and logistics associated with the Healthy Options program.

Over the course of four months I familiarized myself with the aesthetic of The Gettysburg Review through reading published pieces and recent submissions to the magazine. Each piece was discussed and analyzed with the editor to flesh out what makes a piece of short fiction publishable. Additionally, I worked with the managing editor to copyedit several poems and essays according to the Chicago Manual of Style.

I served as one of five student coordinators for the Office of Student Activities and Greek Life, conceptualizing, organizing, and hosting both in-person and virtual events for anywhere from 20-100 students. I participated in weekly coordinator's meetings and bi-weekly programming meetings that include several departments on campus. As a senior coordinator, I served as the point person on many events and helped new coordinators familiarize themselves with event planning on campus.

As the Traditions Chair, I was responsible for coordinating the four large-scale annual events at Gettysburg College: a food festival, a bus trip to New York City, a swing dance, and a spring festival. I collaborated with a team of four students to conceive event themes, decorations, and logistics months in advance. In addition, I contacted and contracted vendors, devised and coordinated volunteer shifts, and allocated a budget of over $30,000 between events for the campus community. For each event, I served as the point person, making final decisions and handling issues as they arose.

For three summers I worked as a day camp counselor for children ages 3-5, becoming a co-head counselor in 2018. I collaborated closely with several interns at the club to brainstorm, adapt, and implement programming ideas and itineraries that they had prepared for each week. Additional responsibilities included communication with parents and ensuring the smooth transition to each event planned for the day. In the off season I completed any general recreation work at the club that required extra support.
