Assumed duties as Charge Nurse as necessary making nursing care assignments for Hospital Corps personnel, directed and guided them in providing optimal nursing care. Assisted providers during physical exams, diagnostic testing and treatments by performing physical exams on patients, peripheral IV insertions, lab draws, pediatric straight catheterizations, EKGs, and emergency care. Administered routine intravenous fluids and /or medications, as indicated. Observed and recorded pertinent vital signs, determined and order laboratory procedures on patients that may be required by the provider to diagnose and treat the patient. Educated patients and family on management of illness/injury. Trained and oriented nurses and corpsmen to clinic functions and procedures. Worked extensively with various electronic systems to document patient care.
