Grace Dircz is a bilingual curriculum specialist who has a talent for engaging educators in adult learning. She grew up in Minnesota where activism and the arts were an integral part of her daily life. With the desire to work towards a more equitable society, Grace launched her career in 2013 and joined Teach for America in New York City. Grace holds an M.S. in Early Childhood General and Special Education with a Bilingual extension from Hunter and Queens Colleges respectively. In 2022, Grace obtained another M.A. in School Building Leadership and School District Leadership at Bank Street College and benefited from intensive mentorship through the Leaders in Education Apprenticeship Program (LEAP). Grace’s philosophy of education is built on three pillars: Project Based Learning, Dual Language instruction, and anti-bias teaching. Grace promotes bilingual education to propel our children to be the leaders of their generation in our globalized world. Grace believes that educators must work in partnership with students to engage in authentic and meaningful civic action. As an Instructional Coach at WHEELS, Grace facilitated weekly Professional Development and coaching for the Elementary School to build teacher capacity and expertise over the course of eight years. She is particularly proud of the reflective and collaborative culture that she helped to foster amongst her colleagues. Her routine use of peer feedback protocols supported teachers across grades to adopt a mindset of Continuous Improvement and accountability. This resulted in measurable growth in teacher effectiveness and particularly supported their ability to meet students’ academic and social-emotional needs. In 2024 Grace began working for Acuarela Curriculum Co-Op to collaborate in the creation of curriculum that is beautifully bilingüe and deeply aligned to her pedagogy. She moved to Mexico City in 2024 to deepen her knowledge of international and bilingual education. Grace hopes to continue to increase her impact in the field of education in curricular leadership, amplifying best practice in bilingual education.
