About Grace Fields

Hi! I am a young professional passionate about managing and conserving our ecosystems. My interests are primarily in remediating harms from disturbances and reducing the risk of climate-influenced disasters such as wildfire and drought through a botanical lens. Within this, I am particularly fond of better understanding how plant species respond to these events! I work for Transition Salt Spring's Climate Adaptation Research Lab, where my main areas of focus are forest ecology research, forest and watershed restoration, and project management. My time is often split between fieldwork and data collection, data management and processing (through RStudio and QGIS), planning experimental design, and project reporting and budgeting.I have a BSc in Natural Resources Conservation from the University of British Columbia, where I built hands-on skills while learning how to approach conservation and ecology ethically and holistically. 🌿
