No two days the same, working in a fast paced environment within the agricultural industry. Working with farmers to effectively and efficiently plan collections from farm. Then liasing with drivers to ensure the route is clear and concise.

Represent and promote British Wool during the peak season months.The role is to attend livestock markets, agricultural shows and events predominantly in the Derbyshire/ Staffordshire and Cheshire area to liase with farmers and producers in the area about intermediate depots and what British Wool are doing to market their wool. To promote British Wool and raise the profile of the organisation.

Sales, Marketing, Events and Production. An industrial placement taken out in a small but thriving family business. Involves sales on the phone, organising and attending events, updating social media and company website, creating mailshots. Spent time in the production of Oil and Crisps, booked transport, worked on logistics and HACCP/ SALSA preparation. At the same time as completing day to day tasks such as contacting customers and dealing with enquiries.

Café, shop and kitchen work Helping with the day to day running of a busy farm shop, tasks including; waiting on, food and drink preparation, dealing with customer issues and the till, often ordering stock.

The scholarship offered the opportunity to work and live on a large-scale beef, sheep and dairy farm situated on the North Island of New Zealand. This has not only allowed for an increased amount of knowledge in agricultural practises to develop, but it has also helped to understand the lifestyle surrounding farmers in this area. Additionally, a month’s travelling was secured as part of the scholarship to extend the experience and benefit from extra networking. This experience helped personal development whilst embracing a new team, and lifestyle. Particularly building on confidence, communication, and enthusiasm.

Bar and restaurant workWeekly work in a high-class hotel, involved tasks such as serving customer and deal with any customer complaints. Waiting on, organising events such as weddings whilst learning more about the food industry.

Seasonal Work Worked as part of the customer service team over the busy Christmas period. Using tills and dealing with any customer problems.
