Organize and provide tuberculosis testing for residents at Ozanam Inn in New Orleans.

Through Aquity Solutions, I work with a physician at HealthPartners where I am able to assist with her medical documentation.

I completed an Honors Thesis project in order to Graduate With Distinction from the Psychology and Neuroscience Department at Duke. My thesis project examined how mothers communicate differently with their sons and daughters during playtime, as a possible means of perpetuating gender roles and gender stereotypes. We found some interesting results that highlight the intricacies of the intersectionality between race and gender. I defended my thesis in May 2020.

While a member of the CAPE Program, I participated in biweekly discussions about ethical dilemmas and new medical developments, with the purpose of gaining a broader understanding of the medical field and to keep up with current events. I also gained practical experience in the Brain Tumor Center, where I took patient history and performed neurological exams. I would then present to the physician and shadow her during her interaction with the patient, simulating how medical students might report to their attending physician during rounds.

As part of the Duke University Cheerleading Squad, I cheered at home and away football and men’s basketball games and participated in volunteer events throughout the Duke and Durham community. I became Captain at the beginning of my Junior year, in August 2018, and continued in this role until I graduated in May 2020. While serving as Captain, I created and organized an online platform to assist my teammates in learning new material more easily. I was also a leader during performances at games as well as community events. My experience as Team Captain has also made me comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment. Additionally, as part of the cheerleading team, I have had the opportunity to participate in various philanthropic events in the Durham area.

While I worked as an undergraduate research assistant in the Wilbourn Infant Lab at Duke, I recruited participants for studies, explained consent to participants and conducted studies that the Principal Investigator of the lab was running. The primary study I was a part of examined mother-child dyad interactions during a storybook and playtime task.
