CurrentThe work of LA DALLMAN explores architecture as transformed site, reshaping the raw materials of found and abstracted landscape in projects of diverse scale and type. The practice has been awarded numerous professional honors, including nine Design Awards from the American Institute of Architects Wisconsin and the Boston Society of Architects, as well as several prizes in international design competitions. LA DALLMAN was named a 2010 Emerging Voice by the Architectural League of New York and received the Bruner Award for Urban Excellence Silver Medal. The firm is the 2011 recipient of the Spotlight: The Rice Design Alliance Prize, an international honor that “recognizes exceptionally gifted architects in the early phase of their career.” LA DALLMAN is the first United States practice to receive the prize, which was previously awarded to acclaimed architects Antón García-Abril of Spain and Sou Fujimoto of Japan. Among the broad range of their work, notable projects include urban infrastructure, public space, artistic installations, houses, and civic buildings. Completed projects include permanent exhibits on fresh water in Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin, the Miller Brewing Company’s Employee Meeting Center, the Kilbourn Tower, the Levy House, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Hillel Student Center. LA DALLMAN is published in Detail in Process (Princeton Architectural Press, 2008), The Green Braid (Routledge, 2007), The Public Chance (a + t, 2008), 1000x Architecture of the Americas (Verlaghaus Braun, 2008), Architectural Record, Praxis Journal of Building + Writing, Germany's Topos, Spain’s a + t In Common Series, and Canada’s Azure. They have lectured and have exhibited their design work in various cities including at the Carnegie Museum of Art.
