The thing I love the most about animal husbandry is learning about the animals for myself, as well as using that knowledge to educate others. I’m a firm believer that properly maintained captive animals are invaluable public education tools. People are much more likely to want to see a snake in a tank than in the wild, but you can use that time that they’re looking at your pet snake to teach them how cool all snakes are and that they’re not something to be feared.My dream job would be working in herpetofauna husbandry and educating the public about conservation. I love both animals and people and am passionate about conservation and education. My ideal job would be a combination of both, working at a zoo, museum, nature center, or conservation group.
