At ECU Health Medical Center, I have the privilege to work as Patient Access Representative in the Emergency Department. I help patients verify information, provide insurance benefits, and maintain a positive attitude for their experience. I obtain signatures on important forms required for patients’ hospital stay. I work alongside doctors, nurses, and other clinical staff to ensure correct patient authorization is obtained.

At ECU Health, I have the opportunity to volunteer in different areas of the ECU Health Medical Center and at the ECU Health Lifestyle Medicine Center. At the ECU Health Lifestyle Medicine, I help out with stapling together "new-patient booklets", copying papers, and assisting with the doctors, nurses, and registered dietitians. When I volunteer in the ECU Health Medical Center, I have the chance to volunteer in the Emergency Department - directing visitors to patients' room, Cancer Center Lobby front desk, the Imaging Center Reception Desk, and in the Rehabilitation Lymphedema Clinic - volunteering alongside with the Physical Therapist.Getting involved with volunteering at ECU Health has allowed me to gain 237:49 hours of experience, in all different areas and aspects of the medical field.

In the athletics department of East Carolina University, I have the opportunity to volunteer alongside with the sports dietitian, Kristina Coe. This opportunity has allowed me to gain 21 hours of experience as well as gain more insight in sports nutrition. In this volunteer position, I assist at the fuel station in the Murphy Center, the Rogers Family Performance Center, and I provide assistance with the Men's Basketball fuel area. With the fuel stations, I make sure the athletes have a well-stocked fuel station; restocking low snack items as well as the drink cooler.

As a Well-Being Ambassador, I provide different resources to the students of East Carolina University. I am a certified peer educator and give presentations regarding the topics of mental health, nutrition, stress, safe sex, alcohol and drug use, and bystander intervention. Secondly, I help with the weekly programs that we provide. To be more specific, I hand out weekly fresh food on Friday's, as part of the Fresh Food Friday weekly program. This opportunity has helped me gain experience in the realm of nutrition and enabled me to interact with the diversity of East Carolina University.
