My duties as a technician primarily involve the preparation of materials and resources for the delivery of the Science curriculum to KS3, KS4 and KS5 pupils. I observe teachers who adopt a firm, friendly, child-centred approach and appreciate how their use of verbal praise and positive reinforcement encourages and motivates pupils. In the classroom I observe then assist pupils with their work enabling them reach their potential and have a sense of achievement.

As an English student, I am learning a wide range of skills that will improve my employability. These skills include:-Critical and analytical thinking, through the wide range of texts I am studying. -Communication skills, developing upon written communication skills through essays and oral communication skills through seminar discussion.Teamwork skills, completing group assignments have thoroughly helped me improve my teamwork skills and discover many online platforms that aid group work effectiveness. Such as my last group assignment where we used Google Docs to each edit the one document successfully collating many ideas, receiving a 1st in the assignment. -Presentation skills-Time management-Effectively articulating my knowledge and understanding of texts, concepts and theories-Independent working -English Work Experience Social Media Skills

McSherry's Off-licence, Banbridge. October 2011-August 2016. Relief manager. Working in my fathers small family business, I have gained invaluable interpersonal skills. Customers returning to a small business in a competitive market because of a friendly face is something with gives me a lot of pride. I have a great work ethic, through working in the off-license I have greatly improved my organisational skills. The ability to easily plan and prioritise the days tasks whilst serving customers in order to finish a shift with that feeling of satisfaction that all had been completed gave me great pleasure. My main duties included: sales, stock maintenance, placing orders, filing invoices, VAT return and locking and opening up. I would have two assigned shifts each week then work for more intense periods to cover other employees holidays and other time off.

Working on the website Féile an Phobail to add events and details to the website for the Belfast festival was very exciting. I also gained further experience using content management systems along with editing others work with key precision. I learnt the importance of having user friendly presentation and the difference this can make.

I gained a lot of experience in the importance of promoting sales as this was a busy sale period. I also improved my skills when dealing with difficult customers who often became distressed when a sale item was no longer available. In the vast majority of situations I was able to guide to customers towards better or similar items or recommend a nearby store where it was in stock. My duties included promoting sales, welcoming customers with enthusiasm, location specific items in a large stock room, accounting for deliveries and general shop floor maintenance.

Through this work experience I obtained vital skills in customer service by greeting customers and making them feel welcome. I was given the opportunity to organise any events I had the time for, my most successful nights filled the bar and nightclub, raising all of the money for my school formal's after party. I gained essential teamwork skills while working behind the bar along with learning how to pour a perfect pint and make a lovely latte.
