I was part of a research group through the Biology department at the University of Tampa working with umbilical mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) to differentiate into various different types of cells (neural, skeletal muscle, etc.). Preliminary work was conducted to develop a research project regarding chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). I cultured, monitored, maintained, and tracked the growth of the UCMSCs in preparation for the next steps of the research project. I also reviewed the relevant scientific literature that was available.
