Kernersville, North Carolina, United States

Work within 12-county region to facilitate Environmental and Natural Resource projects. Primary duties include providing services to member governments in the area of water quality and watershed planning on specific grant funded projects, as well as assisting in the implementation of stormwater education. Additional work includes other environmental initiatives including air quality and supporting staff on long- range land development plans; transportation, pedestrian, and bicycle plans; and greenway and open space preservation plans. Responsible for collecting, maintaining, and providing information on planning projects for member governments, governmental agencies and the general public. In this position I provide technical assistance with grant writing and project management.

Facilitate and manage grant funded environmental restoration projects. Working with non-profit Council representatives in 10-county region in Piedmont area of North Carolina. Coordinate best management implementation work within surrounding communities with engineering and environmental consulting companies along with Cooperative Extension, Federal and State partners. Working on urban stream restoration and dam removal projects.

Responsible for the North Jersey RC&D’s consistent achievement of mission and financial objectives. Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and staff, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board. Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization's work. Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.Responsible to research, compose and submit grant proposals to support programs in areas of water resource protection, agricultural sustainability and community development. Grant identification through GrantStation and grants.gov; experience with federal grant reporting procedures. Oversee grant policies, procedures, forms and compliance functions. Per the project, direct involvement on grant implementation with staff and/or volunteers. Recently awarded $1.2 million of watershed implementation funding support and obtained $50,000 of general operating support dollars.

North Jersey Rc&D

Worked with the RC&D Coordinator and Council, managed numerous natural resource projects that support the RC&D Council’s mission. Responsible for the management and oversight of numerous grant- funded restoration projects, involved with grant management, restoration design and installation, collaboration of volunteers, supervision during installation activities as well as communication and contact with landowners. The largest and most highly successful project under my management has been a $700,000 riparian restoration project involving streambank stabilization, riparian restoration and wetland creation in the Raritan Basin Watershed. This project has received several accolades, including the 2010 NJ Governor’s Environmental Excellence Award for Healthy Ecosystems.Coordinated several educational, natural resource focused workshops for the community and for municipal officials located within six-county area. Worked with partnering nonprofits (Musconetcong Watershed Association, South Branch Watershed Association, Raritan Headwaters Association) and academic partners (Rutgers University Cooperative Extension Water Resources Program, The College of New Jersey and New Jersey Institute of Technology) to compile extensive characterization and assessment reports that include field and data collection and narrative composition for target sub-watersheds of northwest NJ. Assistance and support in the implementation of watershed management planning and restoration, outreach efforts, grant proposal development, and education activities.
