Grace Chikumo - Mtonga is a Chartered Account and Social Scientist. My accounting work has been mostly concentrated with auditing and management accounting both with the public and private sector. My social work and development work has been with the private sector and more specific to housing and land rights for the vulnerable and marginalized groups of both the rural and urban Zambia. My auditing work involved setting up of accounting systems for clients, preparation of financial reports and guiding clients in general management of finance and compliance to acceptable financial guidelines. It also included training and orienting of audit trainees.In my social and development work. I have worked with a wide range of community based organisations and Non - governmental organisations. I have coordinated lobby and advocacy programmes for housing networks and facilitated linkages with other service providers in an effort to contribute towards equitable access to housing, land and social amenities by the vulnerable and marginalized groups in Zambia. Capacity building to grassroots organisations has been an integral part of programmes aimed at skills building for individuals and organisations. This has empowered once vulnerable communities with skills to demand for their access to land and decent housing. Since 2012, Nearly 6,000 individuals through the CFHH programmes have been able to attain their access to land and enjoy secure tenure. Nearly 1,000 household are practicing self- help housing initiatives to house themselves in affordable , decent and adequate shelter.
