Since returning to the firm my experience has grown particularly in the areas of Family Law, Wills and Enduring Powers of Attorneys. I have taught myself a great deal about the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act, since coming into effect in early 2023 and have learned the new process involved in creating an EPA, which newly attained knowledge has been found to be invaluable to clients in allowing them to understand the process and making informed decisions about their future. I have also successfully registered EPAs that had been created prior to this legislation coming into effect. Since returning, I have met with a wide range of clients wishing to make and update their Wills. I have really learned the importance of taking detailed instructions, giving advices in relation to dividing assets, CAT implications and also with respect to a spouses’ legal right share and potential risks of Section 117 applications. In a short space of time (6 months) I have drafted in excess of 100 Wills. With respect to Family Law, I have mainly dealt with drafting proceedings for consent divorces and working with clients in order to achieve a fast resolution between the parties. I have also assisted the Managing Partner with various Litigation matters as well as conducting research into various aspects of the law. Show less
