After graduating from Plymouth State University in the spring of 2021 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Anthropology and Sociology, I took an unconventional approach and decided to work as a medical assistant in an Ob/Gyn department. I had my EMT certification and wanted to explore the field of healthcare before making other larger career decisions. The knowledge I gained while in that position has greatly helped me as I serve in the Health sector as a Peace Corps Volunteer.Currently located in a small village in the southern part of Cameroon, I am serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer until the fall of 2025. I work side-by-side with my community to find solutions that will improve health outcomes for our population, specifically in the areas of malaria, HIV/AIDS, water and sanitation, women and child health, and nutrition. I am finding great joy in the challenges and surprises that come with adapting to a new culture and way of life.Using the skills and knowledge learned through this experience, I hope to further my career in humanitarian and international work. I am an ambitious individual looking to gain professional experience with an organization that has a grass-roots approach and values a collaborative environment within its structure.
