This past spring, I graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Environmental Science and Management and a minor in Professional Writing. I am primarily interested in environmental policy and law, as well as education reform; I hope to obtain a J.D. and an M.P.P in environmental law and education policy, respectively. Besides my coursework at UC Davis, I have enriched my college career with special programs, completing a semester at UC Berkeley, and studying abroad in Europe. At UC Berkeley, I completed a semester-long project spearheading an after school gardening program at Aspire High School. There, I worked with economically disadvantaged students teaching them about self-subsistence and gardening, as well as the economic, social, and environmental benefits of urban gardens. During the summer of 2012, I studied throughout Northern Europe visiting cities such as Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Freiburg. We met with various local officials and city planners, visited rooftop gardens, toured biofuel plants, and concluded the trip with a ten-page report on policies implementing sustainable development. At UC Davis, I have taken courses such as Environmental Law, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Urban and Regional Planning, Legal Writing, Environmental Economics, inter alia. I am also a member of UC Davis' University Honors Program through which I've completed a number of projects, one of which was working for the cities of Woodland and Winters, CA researching sustainable waste management practices to fulfill the waste management section of the cities' prospective climate action plans. Lastly, I participated in UC Davis' Model United Nations (MUN) practicing debate and attending conferences simulating the United Nations. I have an affinity for law and policy and am passionate about educating and increasing public awareness of environmental issues. I also strongly believe that every child in America has the civil right to an excellent education.
