Even though I considered her job was done at that point, she would still regularly check up to see if I was happy with my job and how I was doing. It is always nice to know that I still have her support and that I can come to her for any advice relating to my career. A few years down the line, I was due for a promotion and I wasn’t sure how to bring it up to my manager. She made some personal time off just to help me devise a plan to ensure that I was going to say the right things and get the raise and title that I desired. I got a promotion and a raise after that! All in all, she is not a miracle worker, but a wonderful supporter/mentor. Don’t expect to land the job if you don’t have the skills required or if you do not intend to put in the effort.
