MBA-prepared nurse leader with a cumulative 11 years of nursing experience and over 3 years of management and leadership experience. Grace Vargas is an assistant director in the Nursing System Float Team for the UCLA Health System. Grace first joined UCLA in 2019 in the role of a bachelor's prepared clinical nurse in the Santa Monica UCLA campus. She brought 6 years of oncology experience and quickly rose to management in 2021 for the health system, where she supports both the Santa Monica UCLA campus and the Ronald Reagan UCLA campus. In her current assistant director role, Grace directly manages and is responsible for over 200 clinical care partners' direct reports. Grace ensures staff meet state and hospital regulatory requirements, has mentored over 50 student nurses towards their successful entry in the UCLA New Grad Residency Program, and collaborates in team projects and operations. Grace is a nationally recognized Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN). Grace's management experience has allowed her to enhance the PCCN certification as a progressive care nursing knowledge professional that in accordance with AACN; influences patients, nurses and/or organizations to have a positive impact on the care delivered to acutely ill adult patients and families.Grace began her oncology nursing career at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Connecticut. Her passion and experience for oncological care has allowed Grace to retain her Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy ONS certification, and serves a foundation for future career growth.
