- Participated and led the rive-wide water quality monitoring program 3 times a week between April-October to collect water quality data used to assess river health and (oyster and watershed) restoration efforts- Managed water quality data entry and upload to the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative database to convert data into a publicly accessible format - Analyzed water quality data using ANOVA, ArcGIS, and Excel to visualize water quality and restoration progress to recognize portions of the river that should be prioritized for restoration- Assisted in Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) oyster reef monitoring by capturing images of oyster reefs in the Severn River - Educated local 4-10 grade students through hands-on water quality monitoring and osprey surveying to enhance their appreciation of the river and learn scientific data collection methods - Aided in preliminary site visits and gathered background information to write grant proposals for watershed restoration and oyster restoration opportunities- Engaged with the community by participating in outreach events, fundraisers, and networking opportunities

- Quantified and analyzed sediment grain size, CHN levels, and isotope ratios in sediments to understand the chemical makeup of core samples taken from the Virginia Eastern Shore- Worked on analyzing sediment grain size in samples collected on the Eastern Coast of the United States after Hurricane Irma to determine the sediment origin- Joined the VIMS Coastal Geology Lab fieldwork campaign (Over fall break 2021) on the Virginia Eastern Shore and helped collect 10 sediment cores using a Geoprobe and Vibracore from 4 locations, including barrier islands and cornfields further inland- Assisted graduate students in the VIMS Coastal Geology Lab open these cores from fall break and prepare samples from the core for grain size analysis, loss on ignition (LOI), elemental analysis for CHN, and isotope ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS) analysis- Continued to improve these skills and have learned new skills including HCl rinsing and data collection organization
