Chesapeake Conservation And Climate Corps Member; Severn River Association
- Participated and led the rive-wide water quality monitoring program 3 times a week between April-October to collect water quality data used to assess river health and (oyster and watershed) restoration efforts- Managed water quality data entry and upload to the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative database to convert data into a publicly accessible format - Analyzed water quality data using ANOVA, ArcGIS, and Excel to visualize water quality and restoration progress to recognize portions of the river that should be prioritized for restoration- Assisted in Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) oyster reef monitoring by capturing images of oyster reefs in the Severn River - Educated local 4-10 grade students through hands-on water quality monitoring and osprey surveying to enhance their appreciation of the river and learn scientific data collection methods - Aided in preliminary site visits and gathered background information to write grant proposals for watershed restoration and oyster restoration opportunities- Engaged with the community by participating in outreach events, fundraisers, and networking opportunities
