My name is Grace Wiley. I am a graduate of Fleming College in the Fish and Wildlife Technologist program. During my time at Fleming College, I have gained identification skills, knowledge of protocol for field work, wildlife monitoring, Near Shore Index Netting, and more. I am currently working towards my Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental & Resource Sciences at Trent University. Over the summer of 2020, I worked as a Conservation Technician for The Land Between. I worked on the Turtle Guardian project where I conducted road surveys, took morphometrics and incubated eggs. I also worked on creating turtle-based curriculum for elementary school children and did public outreach through social media and in person interactions. In the summer of 2019, I had the pleasure of working for the OTCC as a field technician, using radio telemetry to track juvenile Blanding’s Turtles in a remote area. During the spring of 2018 I volunteered with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority as a research assistant, with a Species at Risk biologist. I assisted him with snake and turtle field research including; data collection of herpetiles, egg collection and incubation, and handling sensitive information. I worked as a Park Naturalist in Algonquin Provincial Park in the summer of 2018. I conducted guided hikes, children’s programs, and assisted with evening programs on a variety of topics involving Algonquin’s flora and fauna. I also created a new guided hike about forest fires. In October 2017 I completed a Tropical Field Herpetology course in Costa Rica. This 8-day course introduced me to the herpetology field. I learned how to complete amphibian and reptile surveys, safety protocol and more. I worked for the Natural Heritage Information Centre as a Student Natural Heritage Information Technician during the summer of 2017. I completed field work for a pollinator project, worked with programs like Excel and Word, imputed wetland evaluations, mounted plants, and participated in a bio blitz at the Alderville Black Oak Savannah. I am certified in First Aid with CPR-C, have a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, a G drivers license, and received ORCKA level 2 training. I would be a great addition to any team because I am organized, responsible, creative, and friendly. For more information, please review my resume, or contact me by email or phone.
