My research looked at the significance of Critical Period on second-language acquisition among Late Arrivers in Toronto. I coded and formatted data in Excel, Goldvarb, and ELAN for scientific analysis. I then presented my results on a PowerPoint presentation. I did all of this under the supervision of a Linguistics Professor.

I worked diligently to achieve my utmost, to always aim for a high standard of achievement while ensuring I was still involved in the Toronto community.

As a part of the 'Work Study', I was responsible for managing Chinese transcription files on a custom software program known as ELAN. This involved transcribing what I heard as well as analyzing some of the phonological features that were targeted in the study (/p/, /b/, /d/, /t/, etc). I was also involved in interpreting the research to a non-Chinese-speaking supervising professor.

I was mainly in charged of organizing the stockrooms and shipment orders from various stores, but I also assisted other sale associates in selling brand name shoes and bags through several locations throughout the city. For one week at the Harbour City Bazaar in Tsim Sha TsuiI also assisted primarily in stocking and retrieving shoes and bags for customers. Working alongside fellow sale associates, we made sure everything at the stand was organized and properly displayed.

Our shifts were normally 8-hours long, so I was usually in charge of closing up the shop at the end of the day (or opening shop if my shift was in the morning). My responsibilities included tending the cash register, making the food products (cookies, cupcakes, pretzels, etc...) and keeping track of some of the available stock. During the times near Christmas and Valentine's Day I also helped with stock preparation and took customer orders at the Head Office. For approximately one week I also worked at the Mrs. Field's Pretzel Maker food truck at the Canadian National Exhibition. I was also responsible for making the food and attending to cash register. Since I had the most relevant experience (I was the only employee still regularly working at a Mrs. Field's) I was also in charge of making sure everything was following the proper standards.

-I went with the chef in the catering van to customers' party locations not only to confirm that everything is organized, I also helped with some of the cooking and serving of the food orders.
