Te Awamutu, Waikato, New Zealand

- Worked in the Queen Production Unit managing up to 1200 hives and nucs.- Completed the NZQA New Zealand Certificate in Apiculture (Level 4).- Contributed to the production of a record number of mated queens and queens cells, allowing 66% of all hives to be requeened during the season, surpassing the 50% target.- Implemented and monitored seasonal beehive management plans, including feeding, requeening, disease management, swarm prevention, and wintering down hives.- Monitored and managed pests and diseases in the beehive, including varroa mite, American Foulbrood, chalkbrood, sacbrood, wasps and mice.- Transported beehives and established new sites.- Travelled to manuka forests to harvest honey, surpassing the 2024 honey crop season target.- Extracted honey from supers producing high-quality contaminant-free products, identified food safety risks, and set an annual record for extraction volume through the plant.

Auckland, New Zealand

- Worked at the forefront of customer service to deliver a meaningful, memorable brand experience that changed visitors' perceptions of Comvita products and built brand affinity, reputation and recognition within New Zealand. - Hosted intimate 45-minute honey-tasting sessions with groups of up to eight people.- Educated consumers of all ages on bees, honey, and health. This included making school visits, running educational classes for children, and providing hands-on bee experiences at Victoria Park. - Produced the store's Operating Manual and SOPs.- Worked closely with the Sustainability team, calculating carbon emissions for Comvita's first annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory.- Worked across the Quality and Research teams to conduct internal audits, and literature reviews on ingredients and therapeutic benefits.

- Worked in the Formulation Development Team within New Product Development.- Prepared and executed trial lab batches of new drug and nutraceutical formulations including tablets, oral liquids and ointments following a Quality by Design approach.- Tested these new formulations against a variety of specifications such as weight, hardness, friability, pH, and dissolution. - Assisted in maintaining and calibrating equipment in a GMP laboratory using GLP. - 10-week internship under the Callaghan Innovation R&D Experience Grant.

- External audit preparation - 2020 BRC audit - Created and updated Quality manuals and Production SOPs, trained the Warehouse team, and completed internal audits to identify further gaps in our processes, resulting in a BRC grade change from ‘C’ to ‘AA’ - the highest grade attainable.- Internal auditing - Planned and conducted various internal audits including Cleaning and Sanitation, Environment and Equipment, and Pest Management, and was involved in Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) auditing.- Deviations and risk assessments - Conducted a risk assessment and wrote a subsequent deviation report allowing the release of over $100,000 worth of propolis stock that had failed flavonoid testing.- Initial establishment of our Quality Lab Information System (QLIMS) - Set up release specifications for all Comvita products to simplify and streamline our grading and release system. - Documentation - Updated all mānuka honey BPRs, BMRs and QLIMS specifications to reflect changes made by MPI on the regulatory definition for mānuka honey. Used QAD (ERP) software to identify affected honey batches in finished goods, collected retention samples and sent them for testing to ensure they complied with the new regulations.- Stability trials - Set up stability protocols, conducted in-house testing, managed stability data from internal and external labs, investigated shelf-life extensions, and created annual summary reports.

- Produced a comprehensive literature review covering the health benefits of propolis.- Read and critically appraised over 100 scientific papers- Presented findings and recommendations to Comvita’s senior leadership team and staff.- 10-week internship under the Callaghan Innovation R&D Experience Grant.
