The Manager of Experience & Engagement in the International Students & Programs Office (ISPO) coordinates ISPO’s comprehensive student experience and engagement programs including recruitment and yield, pre-arrival, orientation, transition, first-year, academic support, health and wellbeing, cultural adjustment, service learning, community involvement, and career development. Leads a team of advisors to meet the unit’s goals of enhancing the international student experience to increase meaningful and life-long engagement with the campus and local community and cultivating an inclusive and welcoming campus community. Implements learning outcome assessments and program evaluations.Supervises and hires advisors, administrative staff, and student assistants. Creates and maintains team-oriented and harmonious work environment and effectively coaches their team to do their best work. Ensures accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and staffing) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.The Manager coordinates the Pre-Arrival Unit which serves prospective and newly admitted students. Establishes, with department leadership, goals and priorities, reviews and improves existing programs and services, and participates in development and Implementation of new programs, policies, and procedures affecting the Student Experience & Engagement unit.Leads the customer service resolution team who analyzes newly admitted student concerns and provides appropriate corrective action in a timely manner. Identifies systemic, technical, and processing problems and issues, proposes solutions to department management, implements changes and enhancements, and evaluates process effectiveness and efficiency.

As the Outreach Coordinator, I collaborate with three of the six colleges within the UC San Diego campus to provide resources and host programs that benefit the 8,000+ International and Out of State students. We aim to support their transition to campus life by focusing on their: 1. Adjustment and Integration2. Health and Well-Being3. Cross Cultural Immersion4. English Language and Academic Support5. Career Development & Future PlanningOther responsibilities include: Manage a team of student interns to create programs intended to connect 8,000+ international and out of state students to their colleges and campus resources.Develop and execute 119+ programs and workshops to serve roughly 5,500 students throughout the 2017 - 2018 academic year (a 19% increase in engagement from the previous year).Oversee a budget of up to $75,000 and make decisions on how to best utilize the funds to improve student life for non-resident students at UC San Diego. Provide trainings to Resident Advisors and Orientation Leaders on Intercultural Communication and other topics.Implement use of project management tools, such as Asana, in order to streamline team communication and ensure deadlines are met.
