Coach
Check us out: darkhorseathletic.ca I coach both groups of 7-14 and 11+, where we work on not only fundamental movement skills and exposure to multiple sports, but also building the confidence and teaching the joy and life lessons sport can bring to your life.
Off Ice Instructor
Teaching Jump & fitness programs to the Star 1-5 groups, with a focus on physical literacy.
Athlete Intern
In my role as an intern, I started off managing volunteers, piloted the athlete feedback project (for which athletes got feedback on their submitted videos) and managed the UPenn Student Athlete Mentors in our College Champions program.
Off Ice Coach
I was brought in due to my Physical Literacy & prior figure skating background to work with the Intermediate, Senior and Elite groups off of the ice. We worked on developing cooperation, fundamental movement skills, and overall having fun and enjoying movement off the ice.
Off Ice Coach
I was one of the off Ice fitness and the jump class coach for Calalta Figure Skating Club. I worked with the skaters instilling fun into the fundamentals! Using my prior figure skating background, along with the experience of teaching games for understanding skills, I encouraged the figure skaters to explore their movement, in both skating specific, and non-specific ways. It was important to work on all aspects of their fundamental movement skills, and build a team atmosphere to ensure everyone left with a smile on their face.
Administrative Assistant
Supporting the Enterprise Technical department, I supported groups in the Maintenance and Reliability, as well as provided coverage to other Administrative and Executive Assistants in the group. Skills developed in this role include, but are not limited to, calendar management for up to 8 leaders at one time, working with minimal supervision, and being a self starter and thinking proactively.
Multisport Program Coordinator
I coordinated and worked with the local sport partners in Cochrane to deliver a 10 month long program, which involved 12 sports open to the FUNdamentals age. This job was completed primarily remotely, with phone and in person meetings every 1-2 weeks. My job entailed communicating between the board of directors, local sport and organizational partners, program leaders and parents. I also set up and managed the registration process and created the schedule for program leaders, sport blocks and coaches.
Summer Coordinator
This position was completed as a part of my 250 hour practicum at Mount Royal. In this position, I was in charge of researching grants, data entry of run volume of athletes, creating an athlete pathway document that described how to get in to the sport, and organizing the google drive files for efficiency. In this position, I gained knowledge of the provincial sport system and how it fits with the national sport organization. This position was completed remotely, with a weekly meeting in the Alberta Skeleton office. Independent work without supervision was a new and interesting way to work, and it helped me develop business communication through email and phone calls in between the face to face meetings.
Skate Instructor
I instructed with Winsport in the Learn To Skate programs and helped develop and instruct with the discover figure skating program. The ages of the participants varied between 3 and 17 years of age, and helped develop supervision skills, as I constantly had to evaluate and manage classes while instructing to ensure that the environment was safe for all participants on the ice. In the discover figure skating program, I was a part of the team that helped develop the program and evaluation tool, run the pilot, and then debrief on the success of the program. As a team, we instilled healthy living components to the class, by talking about warming up and cooling down for exercise, along with promoting a overall healthy behaviours and a positive environment. This 12 week program had a variety of skill levels, so thinking on the fly was essential to the running of the program. In this position I developed confidence in working with children of all ages, supervisory skills by monitoring the situation consistently while teaching, and was able to adjust lesson plans as I taught to ensure that the class was consistently challenged by the activities and skills being taught.
Sport Services Assistant
This position was at Front desk at the Bob Niven Training Centre located at Canada Olympic Park. I was a part of the front line team that was the first point of contact when you enter this building. Whether it be the public, athletes or external clubs utilizing the park, I was able to direct them to their appropriate destination. When athletes that entered the facility, I ensured that they scanned their card in order to gain entry in to the facility and managed their membership details as needed. The athletes varied from Club, Provincial, National and Olympic team members. In this position, I developed the ability to work as a team for maximum effectiveness, along with being able to identify places to improve and taking initiative to develop new processes.
Administrative Support
I supported the Admistrators of the In Situ department at the Calgary office.
Cashier
My job required me to handle transactions and provide customer service over the phone and in person.
