I am Grace Elizabeth Fox, hailing from Edmond, Oklahoma, and an enrolled member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Ethnicity and Race Studies (Native American/Indigenous Studies) from Columbia University, where I graduated cum laude. During my academic journey, I had the honor of being named a 2019 Gates Scholar, 2019 Kluge Scholar, 2021 Navab Fellow, 2021 Solomon & Seymour Fisher Civil Liberties Fellow, and a 2022 Udall Scholar. I was also a finalist for the 2022 Rhodes, Marshall, Kellett, and Doctorow Scholarships. In 2023, I received the Harry J. Carman Fellowship, Cobell Scholarship, and earned the CSER Academic Excellence Award and Multicultural Affairs Graduation Cord.After completing my tenure at the U.S. Department of the Interior (Bureau of Indian Education) through the 2023 Udall Native American Congressional Internship Program, I relocated to the United Kingdom to pursue a Master of Public Policy at Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government. I recently completed my MPP and had the privilege of working at the United States Department of Agriculture, specifically in the Office of the Secretary and the Office of Tribal Relations. During my time there, I focused on sustainable economic development and food sovereignty initiatives for Native American tribes.In the summer of 2024, I completed a dissertation titled “Leveraging Flexible Federal Funding at the United States Department of Agriculture to Address Economic Disparities in Native American Communities.” This report explores how USDA’s flexible funding programs can foster economic development while preserving traditional practices, emphasizing the need for Tribal consultation and culturally sensitive approaches. I also completed an extensive capstone project titled “Tribal Government Business Structures, Alaska Native Corporations, & USDA Program Authority,” which examines various Tribal business structures and USDA initiatives supporting Tribal self-determination.I continue to leverage my education and experience to guide change, which led to my induction into the Future Leaders in Public Service Fellowship in 2024, a program designed to bring diverse young talent into government.I am currently open to new opportunities and am passionate about nonprofit work, education, federal government, tribal government, diplomacy, and Indigenous/Native American law and policy. My extensive experience in these areas has fueled my commitment to creating a more just and equitable world for Indigenous communities and beyond.
