In this role, I design and implement an online training utilizing an established diversity, equity, and inclusion curriculum via Articulate Programming software. I collaborate with the curriculum designer and company owner to establish the desired outcome and completion of the project.

I provided direct clinical services in this role, including individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and walk-in counseling. I worked cross-collaboratively work with Student Support Staff to ensure support for student needs. Supported Veteran and Military-Connected Communities through weekly virtual drop-in meetings. Additionally, I developed and facilitated virtual psychoeducation workshops on mental health and assisted in grant writing for culturally specific mental health programming grants.

In this role, I gained skills in one-on-one telehealth therapeutic practice with high school students to support emotional, social, and academic learning. I assisted in developing and implementing student 504 and IEP learning plans. Additionally, I developed assessment strategies and support for individuals navigating grief, loss, and trauma. As a Wilderness Guide, I am responsible for planning and executing canoeing and backpacking expeditions in the remote backcountry for youth between the ages of 12 and 18. I have experience solo and co-leading trips through a variety of lengths (one to five weeks) and difficulty of travel.

Planned lessons and instructed 4th graders through high school students of diverse populations on a range of outdoor education curriculum. Classes included; team building, instructional hikes, animal studies, map & compass, canoeing, and forest studies. Facilitated independence, empowerment, and meaningful connections with the natural world through engaging and fun classes. Gained continued experience in group and behavioral management of youth and appropriately managed risk with groups I was leading.

One of four team members canoeing a 60-day Mississippi River Expedition from October to December. As a team member, I researched and executed safety and risk management for the expedition; including gear, safety equipment, environmental hazards, and high traffic waterway hazards. Gals to the Gulf facilitated outreach to corporate gear sponsors and fundraising for a non-profit organization.

My responsibilities as a paddle fellow for the Paddle Forward Expedition is to engage with communities on the Minnesota River Valley through various events and blog postings, build base curriculum for schools following the expedition, update and maintain various social media platforms on themes that relate to the trip, and execute the expedition which results in the group canoeing the entirety of the Minnesota River.
