Assisted 3rd and 4th year biology and biochemistry students in BI341 (lab methods for cell and molecular biology) and BI446 (microbial disease).

The Weadge lab studies bacterial biofilms and how they are relevant to food/water security, oral health, and healthcare-acquired infections. I assisted in projects focused on the modification (specifically O-acetylation) and export of cellulose by Clostridium spp. into the biofilm matrix, which contributes to biofilm persistence.

I was selected to act as an academic support for first year biotechnology technician students. Any individual who felt they needed help in understanding course content, establishing study habits, or developing organizational skills was able to book a private appointment with me. During these sessions, I would lend an ear and assist students in developing the proper strategies to meet their goals. I was tasked with altering and fine-tuning my approaches depending on the needs of each unique individual.
