The Resident Director (RD) is a full-time, masters-level professional, charged with providing leadership and direction for a residential community of 200-700 students. RDs are responsible for cultivating a meaningful experience in a "high touch" institutional culture, with the underlying goal of supporting students and embodying cura personalis or care for the whole person.

As a hall director I supervise and train a student staff of eight to deliver an effective residence hall program in an area of approximately 200-400 students. I also assist in the development and implementation of area community development model that includes an emphasis on the first 50 days, first year student success, and inclusive community programming and support. I am involved in department and University committees and department policy/procedure formation such as the Community Advisor Selection and Training Committee. Overall I establish a hall environment that encourages personal and academic success by creating campus partnerships, implementing initiatives, and providing tools to CAs that support students’ success.

Grimm/Mcmillan Hall

I engaged regularly with students in a first year environment aiding in the adjustment to college, and promoting their personal and academic success. I helped maintain front desk operations by training, supervising, and evaluating eight desk assistants between two residence halls. My work with the front desks also gave me the opportunity to create and edit desk operation manuals and training documents to better our department’s current processes. In addition I provided support and resources to students through my position as an advisor for hall council and also responded to student and facility-related emergencies as they arise.

At CCA I was involved in a on-call rotation responding to incidents as needed. Furthermore I participated in a residential curriculum restructure creating lesson plans and programming models for students living in the residence halls including but not limited to sustainability and community initiatives. I helped manage a team of eight Summer Conference Assistants leading staff meetings along with team professional development in order to better support our summer groups including international and masters art students.

I provided exemplary customer service to all patrons and have managerial responsibilities such as opening and closing the store, reviewing payroll, and creating schedules. I also assisted the store team in maintaining the store's visual presentation by straightening merchandise and assisting in floor sets.

Taylor Hall/Evans Hall

I developed leadership skills with the 25-30 residents of my floor, community and building while programming events to meet the needs of my residence hall. I also assisted students by providing information about resources around campus and helped them with personal matters such as mediating roommate conflicts.

As a student assistant I worked closely with the department secretary on a variety of tasks. My jobs included things like assisting professors with research projects to making copies. I also worked with the departments annual NEWSPA (Northeastern Wisconsin Scholastic Press Association) conference where I wrote pieces for the newsletter, press releases for the event and helped set up the conference.
