I love people. I love their emotions, strengths, set backs, and stories. Building relationships, leading with empathy, and problem solving through healthy communication is amazingly rewarding. It has led me from promoting and managing nonprofits to the high school classroom, and will always be the foundation of my professional outlook. After earning a magna cum laude degree in communications with a public relations emphasis from Mississippi State University, I began working in nonprofit communications for the arts and education programs. I enjoy working to manage social media and marketing for small nonprofits that focus on history, heritage, environmental sciences, education, and tourism, and have always LOVED building connections with others through storytelling, which is what communications is all about. I have since transitioned into teaching business and marketing in the high school classroom, where I get to show my love for my students (and their voices and opinions as human beings), while preparing the next generation of leaders to lead with empathy and understanding, and to go out and tell their stories.
