Samtec is a privately held global manufacturer of a broad line of electronic interconnect solutions. Samtec’s design team was small, so as a Senior UX Designer I wore a lot of hats. I was on the Operations Support (OS) team, collaborating daily with developers all over the world to design the applications Samtec Engineers relied on. Additionally, I worked directly with clients as a UX consultant and design-thinking workshop facilitator. Tasks vary depending on the project as our clients were Fortune 500 companies, startups, and everything in-between, but frequently include the following:UX RESEARCHI recruited, scheduled, scripted and conducted interviews with potential users of products, subject matter experts, and stakeholders. I also wrote and distributed surveys. Quick and effective synthesis and analysis of this data so that the team could make informed design and development decisions was my favorite part. UX DESIGNI utilized Sketch, Miro, and Figma to create various UX Artifacts like page tables, site maps, user flows, user/customer journey maps, and personas backed by my research. I worked collaboratively with the team to create and iterate sketches, wireframes, prototypes, and software deliverables. USER TESTINGI planned, recruited, scheduled, and conducted moderated and unmoderated user tests for the products we created. I also performed heuristic evaluations of user interfaces before release. ACCESSIBILITYMaking sure the products we made were accessible was and continues to be my personal passion. I championed accessibility best practices throughout the company by leading internal workshops and ensuring our user research practices were GDPR compliant. Show less
