My design approach considers how environments shape us. Architecture and landscape can be one. I believe in connecting people with their environment and the positive impact this has on quality of life. My aim is to deliver buildings and spaces that are not just functional and aesthetically compelling, but intellectually engaging and enduring. I’ve applied this design philosophy to a broad range of projects throughout my 20+ year career, including residential, commercial and industrial projects. My passion is for projects that have an environmental consideration as it creates creates an opportunity to bring elements of nature into people's lives. Whether it’s a new build, renovation or remedial work, big or small, spaces can be transformed to enhance work life, lifestyle and wellbeing. My style focuses on simple, functional design: open plan arrangements, smooth transitions between interior and exterior, connecting living areas with landscaped surroundings. I'm also interested in incorporating environmental systems that enhance energy efficiency; utilising cross-ventilation, natural sunlight and rainwater recycling. As Principal of Architecture + Environment, I champion these ideas within the architectural team and on projects.Teaching is another passion of mine. I’ve spent several years working at New Zealand Universities providing architecture students with design direction and critique.
