As a neighbourhood youth officer at Sussex Police, I have been supporting and safeguarding children in Hastings for the past three years. I have 17 years of experience as a police officer, with a strong background in investigation, response, and multi-agency working.My current role involves delivering regular lessons and sessions at schools and in the community on various areas of law, such as exploitation and online safety. I also work with schools, charities, housing associations, children's services, and the youth justice service to protect children from harm and crime, and to prevent them from becoming offenders. I take a child-centred approach to policing, building trust and confidence in the police among children and their families. Prior to this role, I worked on a response team, responding to emergency calls and starting investigations for all types of crime. I enjoy the challenges and variety of my work, and I am passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people.
