Alongside my project based activities, I am currently undertaking a Level 4 Associate Project Management Apprenticeship with Salford City College.I completed my PhD at The University of Manchester in 2020, after successfully applying for a SEED (School of Environment, Education and Development) Faculty scholarship. Current
Proxy Stow Lead
Following my successful application to join the 2022 Step Up Team Lead Pool, after a short period of training I began providing proxy cover for Stow Leads.
Fulfilment Centre Associate
Executive Committee - Communications And Membership
After a successful Centre for Global Eco-Innovation internship at MET in the summer of 2015, I was offered the chance to join the Executive Committee, volunteering in a Communications role. Through this position it was my responsibility to manage MET's website and social media accounts, keeping them relevant to the work of the Trust and promoting upcoming MET events through these channels. In time I took on additional responsibility around modernising existing membership databases and looking into creating a new newsletter.
Internship
Following the success of my Centre for Global Eco-Innovation sponsored Calibrate Ltd internship, it was agreed that I would undertake another, this time with the Merseyside Environmental Trust, a charitable body who exist to raise awareness of environmental issues through promoting open discussion of global and local concerns and by stimulating scientific enquiry and debate. The work required through this internship was to update their ‘Your Environmental Policies’ and ‘Your Environmental Checklist’ publications to ensure they were up to date and in line with current policy practice, including the ISO14001 update. It was hoped that through these improvements, increasing numbers of voluntary and community groups could continue to learn and develop best contemporary environmental practice for their organisations. Secondly, I updated the MET website and helped to manage and increase their online presence through their existing Twitter and LinkedIn social media accounts, in a bid to attract attention and new members to the organisation and its work.
Internship
In early 2015 I was approached by a member of the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation at Liverpool University regarding a potential internship position. This internship saw me work for Calibrate Ltd, an Energy Assessment and Advice Service. The work required through this internship was to produce a report looking into the potential impact of a centrally funded programme of deep retrofits across the UK's entire existing housing stock. Looking into the political, environmental, social and economic benefits of the proposal, it was hoped that this report could gain traction within political and industry circles, promoting this programme as a realistic option for improving the energy efficiency of the nations homes whilst also bringing binding 2050 emissions targets within reach for the state.
