Safer Neighbourhoods

I am tasked with the planning of a wide variety of operations and initiatives that seek to mitigate a range of community offending. Working in collaboration with internal and external partners, I secure the resourcing and lead the briefing of teams to ensure clarity of purpose and use of police powers. My role includes petitioning for resourcing and complex documenting to drive operations forward. I manage and coordinate the police response to significant events, including those that hold a high risk of serious disorder and violence. I oversee the logistical support for senior officers, local authorities and key stakeholders delivering the most effective plans to secure safety, minimise disruption and meet all legal compliance requirements. I support local action initiatives, including a safeguarding awareness programme which sought to reduce violence against women as part of a national campaign. I successfully exercised significant internal influencing skill in order to secure the appropriate police presence at varied events; balancing financial and staff resourcing to reach potential victims and offer safety advice around threat of violence.

Safer Neighbourhoods

I led teams in the implementation of long term solutions to neighbourhood issues, resolving areas of greatest concern to the community. I conducted and chaired meetings with the wider community, building and maintaining resilient relationships. I planned and delivered operations to combat offending; securing strong results and well managed resources and financial budgets. I initially held responsibility for one team of six officers, on establishing my ability to manage and direct I rose to undertake the management of five separate teams across varied locations. Achievements of particular note include:• Highly effective leadership around warrant execution and crime reporting; ensuring effective risk assessments and compliance to all legal requirements were consistently met.• Training and leadership of new police officers. Following significant changes in recruitment protocols, officers arrived with very little exposure to core learning to aid this complex and demanding role. I supported the continued learning and development of officers to ensure they were able to deliver value across the neighbourhood. • I led and supported the use of innovative community engagement leading to achieving the highest performance rates in the area.• Addressing issues of particular local concern, I set up traffic operations to reduce speeding and brought in internal specialists to promote training and good practice for local officers. This work included management of local road misuse in the form of illegal night racing which attracted offenders in modified vehicles. I used innovative approaches to organisers and attendees over social media confirming prosecutions and vehicle seizures would take place. When rallies went ahead, I placed extensive road blocks to aid seizure and prosecution and ensured outcomes were documented across social media. These rallies were rapidly disbanded with an immediate positive effect on the local community.

Operational Policing

Safer Neighbourhoods - Leading a team of officers, I developed strategic relationships with key stakeholders, partners and public groups in order to resolve issues that were most pressing within the local community. I brought a personable and diplomatic approach to manage local issues that most affected residents. I consistently ensured my team was knowledgeable and well trained; building significant confidence in policing capability throughout the community. Tasking Team - I led a team in the response to local economy issues. This included daytime activity around warrant execution, drug offending and initial investigation of serious crime and management of crime scenes. Over the night time period, this role moved towards the safe management of public venues to help prevent offending linked to drink and drug activity.

Operational Policing

I undertook a range of training and development, affording me a foundation of effective enquiry, observation and personal interaction. In an operational setting, as part of a response team, I was tasked with the immediate management of critical incidents; often under intense pressure of time. I demonstrated the ability to manage a diversity of issues, influence widely and process information quickly and accurately. I went on to serve in a variety of roles including working closely with diverse neighbourhoods addressing areas of greatest concern. Developing resilient relationships in local areas where previously confidence and trust had been low, I gained the support of key community members in my ward and managed to significantly increase the number of intelligence reports received from the public, dramatically increasing positive outcomes. I also worked within a case progression unit, overseeing the progression of cases following arrest, managing a significant caseload and ensuring compliance with all legal requirements. I reviewed cases to maintain quality control and secured learning from case outcomes. Working in close liaison with legal teams, I demonstrated excellent record keeping and the ability to simultaneously manage diverse cases.
