Operating as a highly regarded consultant, Graeme’s extensive aviation career includes airport logistics & planning, terminal infrastructure and operations having worked with a range of major airlines and airports in Australia and New Zealand. Initially appointed Terminal Manager at Wellington Airport (NZ), a succession of promotions led him to secure the role of General Manager, Aviation at Wellington, Perth and Essendon Airports. The following is a summary of the key projects Graeme managed during this period:Wellington (9 years). Runway overlay, RESA construction. Construction of new domestic/international terminal. Reduced minima by 100 feet. Introduced swing parking gates and silent terminal. Perth (4 years). To meet capacity due to mining boom, introduced stand-off parking bays and remote bussing bays. Managed a 747 emergency landing on a runway under construction in order to get critically ill passenger to hospital. Construction of perimeter security fence with electronic sensing and micro radars.Essendon (5 years). Managed the safety case for CASA to allow construction of an eight story hotel at the airport with approval of ATC. Runway overlay. Skilfully managed and mediated community concerns regarding noise levels, led by the “Close Essendon Airport” lobby group resulting in the group becoming defunct. Generated an increase in aviation revenue through leveraging income sources. Graeme is well equipped and has proven capability in providing timely advice on airport operations including experience in managing annual compliance audits. With over 18 years’ experience in the field, Graeme has been highly effective in maintaining active working relationships with airlines, government agencies and the local community as General Manager, Aviation.
