Responsible for the breeding and development of high yielding, high oleic, disease resistant, market acceptable cultivars for commercial release in Australia and overseas. Coordinate pure seed program and conduct relevant breeding, agronomic and shelling plant R&D for PCA.Extensive experience in developing, conducting and reviewing national and international collaborative agricultural research projects over the past 25 years, including Australia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, PNG, USA and S. Africa.Experience in leadership and management of crop research, development and extension teams, including supervision of scientific and technical staff, under-graduate and post-graduate research students. Supervised 1 Masters student, 5 PhD students, and currently supervising 5 PhD students at Uni of Qld, Uni of NSW, UNE and Uni of Sydney.Past member of the Grains Research and Development (GRDC) Northern Panel from 2005-2008.Extensive knowledge of Plant Breeders Rights and intellectual property rights relating to plant variety protection. A 'Qualified Person' with IP Australia with proven experience in obtaining PBR protection on peanut varieties in Australia and overseas.I am currently working as a private crop consultant, specialising in peanut R&D. I am also recently working with crop researchers at the Central Queensland University (CQU) and have taken up an appointment as Adjunct Professor (Crop Science).
