My "outside work" story: 10 years ago i started Crossfit, yes before it was fashionable. In that time it has been a great outlet for me, its been an escape from the stresses of business, family and life in general. Im actually fitter now at 48 than i was at 20 and I am highly motivated and enjoy challenging myself constantly to be better. The sport of Crossfit and Crossfit Calm have given me that a reason to get fit, an outlet, a challenge and a community that has changed my life and the way i look at things. There is a lot more "can do" in my vocabulary now days. i have no doubt it has made me not only physically but mentally stronger, and that is worth alot in life today. You can make it as hard and really take this as far as you want.During that time ive had some highs like competing in local, international and masters events, crossfitting in places all over the world and making friends and lows like a couple of serious injuries, but that mental strength and my mates have kicked in and driven me through the tough times and forward to better things. So Im also using this experience, education and ongoing personal growth to help others on their journey so they too can get physically and mentally better and be the best version of themselves. Its a great feeling when you help others achieve their goals and to be better humans with the right attitude. Helping them step up and achieve what they thought was not possible.I hope one day to put what I have learnt into helping those who would not otherwise be afforded the opportunity, in particular homeless and rehabilitating youth. I hope crossfit as a way for them to grow and improve their self confidence, their mental strength, to teach them good habits and to help them get fit along the way.
