I have worked in the Substance Misuse sector for over 14 years leading a range of Drug and Alcohol Services. For the last 7 years I have been working on the risks surrounding misuse of prescribed medication and changing how this is seen and managed.I am now involved in a number of exciting initiatives in this area with a strong focus on early identification and intervention. There is an opportunity to change the way individuals who may be struggling with a mix of issues, including prescribed medication misuse across the Integrated Care Boards, Primary Care Networks and Local Authorities. We need to change the language around this area to reduce stigma and ensure teams have the right skills and knowledge to help.I would love to hear from anyone who has an interest in this area.
