My other responsibilities included managing and delivering pre-sales functions and general management of the business. The primary solutions focused on systems consolidation, virtualisation (servers, desktops and storage), and business continuity. SystemsUp specialised in market leading technologies using Microsoft, VMware, Citrix, NetApp, EqualLogic and LeftHand, along with emerging technologies such as FalconStor, RiverBed and Compellent.‣ Restructured the existing Managed Services offering, including all contracts, services and staff.‣ Created new services portfolio, including case studies, company overview and service specific proposal templates. This also involved the research and creation of new services focused on systems monitoring, management and fully outsourced solutions.‣ Prepared business for growth by creating a business plan, including vendor, product and solution definition. This included resource planning, refining existing methodologies and processes.

Wincor Nixdorf acquired Datalect Group in August 2004.Initially employed as a Principal Consultant, leading a team of consultants that offered pre-sales and support functions to clients and internally to the business.I set up and headed the Professional Services team, who provided pre-sales consulting, bid management and review. We worked with the sales teams in our major partners, delivering technology consulting.Formed a Managed Services Department in March 2001 and needed new management team to deliver the services. Around 400 staff and £29m turnover prior to takeover by Wincor which had 6000 employees and £5bn turnover. My role involved managing and resourcing both internal consultants and outsourced consulting via other Systems Integrators and dedicated resourcing companies. Technologies used included Storage Area Networks, Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, Novell. ‣ Set up new business partnerships and suppliers, complimenting the internal skill sets and enabling and end to end project delivery framework.‣ Created and maintained the company Services and Solutions Portfolio, consolidating the existing sales offerings.‣ Sales support function, driving new business through either the existing, or creating new services and solutions with clients such as BT, Steria, Hewlett-Packard and Fujitsu.‣ Ownership of the full sales and project lifecycle from pre-sale through implementation to in service, monitoring and improving efficiencies in both Professional and Managed Services departments. Achieved a 20% reduction in costs for the departments.‣ Created and oversaw implementation of service improvement plans to increase customer satisfaction and internal cost efficiencies.

Followed by managing and technically leading a team of 8 consultants and engineers who worked with our clients to test and prepare their applications for a secure, resilient and centrally hosted environment, using Microsoft and Citrix technologies.‣ Designed and implemented the hosted data centre, consisting of Citrix, Microsoft, AppSense , Cisco, CheckPoint and RSA technologies.‣ Hosted seminars for potential clients explaining the benefits of the solution and associated technologies.‣ Provided process, procedure and technical input in achieving the ISO:9001 and BS:7799 certification.
