I’ve worked in sports media for more than two decades now, primarily for newspapers but also in-house at a major sporting institution and for a spell in PR at a respected agency. The landscape is ever evolving and, so alongside writing for print titles, I’ve also learned how to adapt, producing and publishing content for a digital audience.I’ve been self-employed for more than five years now as a freelancer, building up sources of regular work alongside ad-hoc projects that come and go, including working for the Bundesliga and for Code Sports, an Australian website that provides a platform for long reads.Working from home for yourself, you are driven by necessity to be a self-starter, well organised, personable, confident but most importantly reliable. Desks and sports editors turn to freelancers because they need them to solve a problem and I like to think I can do that for them in an effective, timely and cost-efficient way.
