Assisting Heathrow with the integration of new airline baggage systems.

Worked in partnership with TargIT (later re-branded as vLogix) to develop a Baggage Systems Integration capability within the organisation. I became a framework supplier supporting the vLogix permanent teams in delivery of baggage infrastructure projects delivered at Heathrow. This support varied by project and included Project Management, Technical Support, Integration Strategy, Data Analysis, Test Automation, Technical Authoring and Team Development. The work is currently paused due to the impact of COVID-19 on the Air Travel Industry.

Working on a four month interim assignment to assure and guide the integration of the Heathrow Western Baggage system, which included the new T3 Integrated Baggage system, the upgraded T3-T5 Transfer Baggage system, the existing T5 Baggage System and Heathrow Baggage Reconciliation System.

Responsible for the re-aligment and delivery of the T2 Systems Integration programme, working with terminal and baggage system suppliers, airlines and the operational readiness teams to ensure that the passenger and baggage systems are fully integrated, tested and proven prior to the opening of Terminal 2.

Working with baggage system suppliers (Vanderlande, Siemens, Beumer) I was responsible for the integration of baggage systems with Heathrow IT systems including the new Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and legacy systems. The role includes technical integration of systems over defined interfaces and operational integration of the systems into the operational terminal environment.Projects include:Post T5 Transfer Baggage System (PT5TBS)Terminal 3 Integrated Baggage System (T3IB)T5 Western Baggage Upgrade (T5WBU)Terminal 1 Baggage System (T1 SAC)The role covered full lifecycle support to the projects, including requirements validation, design assurance, test programme design, test delivery and support into operation.The operational testing role included the co-ordination of testing with airlines, including British Airways (PT5TBS, T5WBU and T1), United Airlines, Lufthansa, Virgin (T1 SAC) to ensure full operational capability on baggage system introduction.

I worked as an independent consultant with the Airline Relocations Programme working with airlines and BAA as part of the Heathrow expansion. The role included development of the Systems Integration testing strategy and the delivery of the testing programme.Airlines relocated included:- United Airlines and Air New Zealand from T3 to T1- British Airways and Finnair from T1 to T3- Iberia from T2 to T3- Lufthansa, TAP, Swiss, Austrian and Croatian from T2 to T1- Etihad from T3 to T4- Alitalia from T2 to T4- Air France from T2 to T4- Jet, Gulf and Malaysian from T3 to T4- Qantas from T4 to T3- Aeroflot and CSA from T2 to T4- Korean from T3 to T4- Air India from T3 to T4- Alitalia, Cobalt and Servisair handled airlines from T2 to T4

I worked on the T5 project as an independent consultant managing an integrated test programme ensuring that T5 systems were fit for purpose and were capable of supporting the BA operation.

Responsible for delivery of hardware and software upgrades to the NAS Flight Data Processing, from the Feasibility & Options stage and Business Case Approval to final Operational Handover. Budget responsibility for projects between £8-20M. Accountable for project performance and delivery to cost, quality and timescale.
