XINOVA was an open innovation R&D Platform for corporations of all sizes. I led the fundraising efforts to spin-out Xinova from Seattle based Intellectual Ventures - the $8bn 'pure play' patent development and licensing fund - and set it on its course as an independent company. As Vice Chairman and one of 4 Managing Partners, I focused on the company’s corporate finance, sales and marketing efforts. Also, I oversaw Xinova’s investor relations.

Launched and led venture capital firm with business partners; recruited management team of elite executives and entrepreneurs, developed vision and strategy, lined up funding commitments through U.S. and European roadshow, and led staff of 16. Worked with my partners on the investment committee to make a series of investments comprising Fund 1.

Led Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary’s growth with primary responsibility for driving sales growth from $23.5 million to $1.8 billion in 7 years, leading team of 250+ across a 5000 person organization, with management team comprised of 8 direct reports; responsible for all revenue - sales, marketing, environmental programmes, PR and Events. Collaborated on strategic planning and all major decisions for company.

Frequent speaker at major trade shows, including CES.TFC specialized in data broadcasting in IP-based networks; It's major shareholders included the European Technology Fund, British Telecom, Deutsch Telecom and Intel. We went public in 1999 and the core technology was sold to HP in late 2000.

Collaborated with Paramount Classics executive team, as well as Viacom Entertainment Group and Paramount Pictures management teams, to launch the new specialty studio within Paramount. Active in all areas of the business - Wrote business plan for the studio, assembled team, established key operating and reporting structures, member of creative/production team selecting our films and interacting with filmmakers in the community and at film festivals.

Led a turnaround team to take 60-person newspaper and advertising satellite delivery service startup from the red to the black with cost-cutting and revenue growth initiatives, resulting in the company’s acquisition.
