CurrentA Correctional Officer employed in this capacity with the Northern Territory (NT) Department of Correctional Services, I transitioned intothis specialised field in March 2018 after a long career in sales. Dedicated to making a positive difference in a custodial environment,my objective is to continue my career within Corrections in a people-centred role, focused on the successful reintegration of prisonersback into the community. Since commencing my Corrections career, I have demonstrated the ability to learn effectively both on-the-joband in formal professional development and training settings. I possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, which I havedrawn upon to diffuse volatile situations and to develop and maintain professional, yet friendly rapport with prisoners and colleagues.Working in Corrections has allowed me to further develop my cultural awareness skills, particularly with relation to Indigenous cultureand I have proven myself to be highly effective in relating to individuals from all cultural backgrounds. I take pride in and totalaccountability for my outcomes at work, and amongst my teams, I am well-liked and respected. Bringing with me a positive andcapable approach to my work, I can be relied upon to ensure a job well done. With a passion for prisoner rehabilitation, I look forwardto continuing my career in this sector.
