The aim of the project was to develop a fully integrated plan for the implementation of the circular economy strategy at the island of Skyros. The objective of the project was to develop an integrated plan for the environmental development of the island of Skyros. At first, the global and national environmental challenges are analyzed. These challenges concern, to a great extent, the Mediterranean as a whole. In the second section an analysis of the social, economic and environmental current situation of the island is pursued. Afterwards, the actions of the integrated environmental development of Skyros are fully described. The proposed plan is based on four main pillars. These pillars are: a) energy resources, b) management of materials, c) water management, and d) sustainable mobility. Finally, the potential impacts of climate change on the island are by and large identified.
