The Oasis applications include removal of pathogens (parasites, bacteria and viruses), particulate (silt, clay and organics), iron (and iron bacteria), manganese, arsenic, fluoride, other heavy metals, dissolved organics, sulphur smell and other obnoxious gases, colour, foul taste, toxins and algae. The technology is a robust, easy to operate system, appropriate for both readily accessible and remote locations, either for surface or groundwater treatment. The significance of the operational characteristics is that they result in a more user friendly technology relative to available alternative technologies. User friendly translates into less expensive to operate and more reliable from the viewpoint of the novel applications that the Oasis technology creates for slow sand filtration which were not previously practical.
