For the past number of years I have headed up the Data Centre design and delivery team. In that time BSE3D have been appointed to design and manage the build of several Data Centres. In the last 3 years alone we have delivered the design and build on 4000m2 of technical white space. Our Clients are confidential as you would expect but are leading suppliers of data centre facilities. With our team’s extensive experience in the field working for Credit Suisse, Barclays, BT, Imperial College, Shell and RBS, the client was confident in selecting BSE3D. We undertook a number of feasibility reports and CFD studies to select the most appropriate and efficient technologies for our Clients facilities and not always relied upon what was done in the past. The rapid emergence of new technologies from proven manufacturers was hard to ignore but must be balanced with reliability, MTBF, maintenance and support services as well as life time cost analysis.The new data centres were designed and built in phases over several years to embrace the most efficient cooling technology and the benefits that a fully coordinated scheme using BIM brings. We used in house dedicated BIM coordinators working closely and collaboratively with other design team members to ensure the construction was as smooth as possible for a tight project timescale. As with all projects CDM and specifically access to maintain plant moving forward was a particular focus for our team to ensure the Clients and there operatives where satisfied after the projects were completed. BSE3D’s latest projects have the lowest PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.1, but with recycled water, this makes them one of the most efficient and environmentally considerate data centres in the world. BSE3D do not stand still and our team of high skilled engineers are constantly pushing for more.

Rolls Royce - Chichester - New Assembly Line- Leading a team of services engineers I was responsible for the planning, coordination, designing and specifying the modifications of the MEP services in the plant to facilitate a new assembly line for the Phantom motor car and new office space for additional employees.Royal Dutch Shell - UK Headquarters "The Shell Centre"- £100m project I was seconded to site for 2 years as lead services engineer for the redevelopment of the tower block. Standing at 27 storeys high encompassing three basement levels and measuring in excess of 45,000m2.- The project involved a renovation of their electrical sub stations and oil filled circuit breakers firstly followed by a complete refurbishment. The crux of this project was that only four floors could be refurbished at a time all other floors were to remain occupied and therefore the infrastructure also remained.Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) - Canary Wharf- Seconded to site for 6 months I was responsible for updating the essential and critical services system schematics and documentation as well as condition surveying and planning for plant replacementBarclay's Bank- Lead electrical engineer in the surveying and subsequent refurbishment of over 10 x branches throughout the UK value +£10mErnst & Young - UK & Global- Lead electrical engineer in the refurbishment of their UK headquarters (15,000 sq-ft over 13 floors)Barclay's Bank - UK Headquarters in Canary Wharf- Assistant electrical engineer in the design of their critical electrical back up systemsMurray House - Barclay's Bank- Lead engineer in the specification and delivery for replacing three 2MVA 11,000V diesel generators which can synchronise with the mains via G59 relays. This was done in a phased manner to avoid down time to the critical operations of the occupants (dealer floors).Imperial College, London- Lead electrical engineer to design services for a new college campus which included facility labs
